Saskatoon Music Festival

Encouraging & Supporting Young Musicians since 1930

We're extremely sad to announce that the 2020 Saskatoon Music Festival has been cancelled.

It is with regret that the Saskatoon Music Festival Committee has decided to cancel the 2020 Kiwanis Musical Theatre and the 2020 General Music Festival. The COVID-19 virus has made a significant negative impact on our venues and programs. We chose the safety and good health of all involved for this year and look forward to a renewed Saskatoon Festival energy for 2021.

We know you probably have a lot of questions... and most of them have to do with refunds! Please read this page carefully for information on our refund policy.

Refund FAQs.

Q: Will my registration fees be refunded?
A: Yes. We'll refund all registration fees, not including administration fees (also called 'transaction fees' on MFS). The 25 administration fee goes towards our operating and administrative expenses. The admin fee was charged on each invoice in addition to the registration fees for classes. So registration fees (class fees) will be refunded in full, but administrative fees (transaction fees) will not be.

Q: I pre-ordered a program or season pass through the website - will I be refunded?
A: Yes. We'll be doing a straight refund for these fees - if you paid 15 for a program, you'll be getting 15 back.

Q: How will the refunds be processed?
A: PayPal makes it very easy to process refunds! Your refund will be returned to whichever credit card you paid with initially. If you paid cash, we'll send a cheque to the address you have listed on MFS.

Q: When will refunds be processed?
A: We're going to start processing refunds as soon as possible with an aim to finish the process by Friday, May 8, 2020. If you have not received your refund by that date, please reach out and let us know!

Q: I'd like to help support the festival during this time. What are my options?
A: Your support means the world to us! If you'd rather donate your registration fees than have them refunded, there are a couple of options available to you.
1. You can redirect your registration fees to our general fund. With festival being cancelled, our expenses go down - but they don't disappear completely. This option would help us keep our stable financial position and be able to move forward with excellence for next year.
2. You can create a one-time scholarship for 2021. We're already looking ahead to how we can make the 2021 Festival the best yet. If you're interested in making it special, consider creating a one-time scholarship out of your registration fees for this year. If this sounds like something you'd like to do, we can discuss your options more in-depth at a later date.
Please note: the above options are entirely opt-in. Unless we hear otherwise, we'll assume you want a full refund. If you do choose to donate your registration funds, we'll send you a charitable receipt.
